RECREATION DIRECTOR


The Town of Bridgton, population 5,200, is seeking a qualified and experienced person for the position of Recreation Director. The long established position continues to provide citizenry with a broad range of year round recreation and sports programming options. The selected individual will have a variety of demonstrated professional skill sets that supports their programming and leadership efforts. A job application and position description are available at the link below or at the Bridgton Town Office.  All letters of interest/applications must include the applicant’s resume’, outline their levels of education, municipal recreation leadership experience, strategic community recreation planning and special events they have been involved with. Includes warming room with wood stove, cable tv, music & hot cocoa.

Bridgton Skate Park

Open 3 seasons (when not covered in snow). Located on Depot st. next to the Historic Bridgton Memorial School.

Lifeguarding/Beach Attendants

NO LIFEGUARDS ON DUTY / SWIM AT OWN RISK. Beach attendant at Highland Lake Beach only 1-4PM late June through mid-August.

3rd Annual MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Competition - [May 4th 2013!]

Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run provides youngsters across the country an opportunity to participate in an exciting baseball/softball skills competition. This national initiative gives boys and girls, ages 7-14, the chance to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities. Boys and girls compete separately at all levels of competition.
Location: Bridgton's Jr. Harmon Field.

Follows Christmas Parade & Tree lighting early December at Community Center. Volunteers & donations cover most of cost. Fee: $0. 200-300 children each year.

All Rec teams (grades 3-4; 5-6) are part of Lake Region Youth Basketball, council made up of reps & rec directors from each town. Fees go to the Town.
Practices at Bridgton Town Hall & Elementary School on weeknights.
All 5/6 games are Saturdays at Lake Region Middle School.
All 3/4 games are Wednesday evenings at Town Hall.
Grades K, 1-2 Coed instructional

Soccer - [ 2013 Registration Form ]
Fee: $15 per child (K); $40 per child/ $60 per family grades 1-6 ($25 per child gr. 1-6 /$45 per family if registered by June 30).
Sign-up before June 30 (except Kindergarten and new residents). Season runs September through early November.
Teams are Kindergarten; grade 1-2; 3-4; 5-6. Boys league and girls league @120 participants from Bridgton.
Fees to Town of Bridgton/Bridgton Rec.
Administered by Lake Region Youth Soccer, reps from each town.

Swim Program - [2013 Registration Form]
Fee: $10 per session/ $30 max per family per session ($30 nonresident; no max) Resident scholarships.
Program runs in two 3-week sessions late June-mid July; mid July-early August at both Highland Lake Beach and Woods Pond Beach.
Preschool through Level VI. Certified Water Safety Instructors
@320 participants. Fees go to the Town.

Photo-Hike (55+)

The Photo-Hike is a guided walk through area trails with a professional photographer. During the walk you’ll have an opportunity to explore Bridgton’s outdoors, meet with friends and even get a free photography lesson! Use our camera or bring your own! The Rec Dept. will provide memory cards and discs to allow participants to take their photos home. Perfect for the beginner in both hiking and photography. The program is Free. Contact Rec Director Tom Tash to sign up. Maximum of 15 participants per event, so sign up early.

Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park Day Trip

Join Bridgton Recreation for a day trip to Maine's very own National Park, Acadia. This motor coach tour will visit popular sights including: Thunderhole, the Jordan Pond House, the summit of Cadillac Mountain and downtown Bar Harbor.
